H Street Streetcar

Can you beat the streetcar in a race on H Street NE?

The H Street Runners Club is hosting a “Running of the Streetcar” event Saturday afternoon to see whether man or machine is faster. After the sprint, you can treat yourself to some Girl Scout cookies, which are on sale throughout the Capitol Hill area.

Runners, and non-runners alike, can expect the temperature to get up to the mid to upper 40s on Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. On Saturday, there is a chance of rain. But you only should have to contend with cloudy skies Sunday.

Here’s what else you might want to know for this weekend:

  • The Pretzel Bakery in Hill East has a new location.
  • Peruvian restaurant Ocopa on H Street NE will launch brunch with bottomless drinks Saturday.
  • World Boxing Association Interim Heavyweight World Champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz will take on former world title challenger Tony “The Tiger” Thompson in an HBO telecast at the D.C. Armory Saturday night.
  • Metro’s usual weekend construction work and delays will return Saturday and Sunday. Trains are single tracking between the Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory stations.
