An annual spectacle featuring local chihuahuas racing along the Southwest waterfront in celebration of Cinco de Mayo has been pushed back a week.
The “Running of the Chihuahuas” will now occur Saturday, May 7, not this Sunday as previously planned, organizers announced in an email this afternoon.
“We are reaching out to let you know that given the forecast, we are moving the 5th Annual Running of the Chihuahuas to the Saturday, May 7 rain date,” the email reads. “All other event details remain the same.”
Sunday is expected to be wet and cool, according the National Weather Service.
