Exit Strategies – Planning for Old Age Engaging All Family Members

Capitol Hill Village is sponsoring a nine-part course, called Exit Strategies, to help individuals prepare for aging. This class is designed for both older citizens as well as adult children working to ensure their parents’ graceful aging process. Topics include:
- Legal aspects such as wills, estates, powers of attorney and medical directives.
- Financial issues, including identifying and communicating financial resources and budgeting and cost planning.
- Household concerns ranging from right-scaling your household, to archiving materials, to managing one’s electronic resources and identities.
The course is intended for seniors, or anyone in a family with aging members — including spouses, adult children or others. Classes are free for Capitol Hill Village members or $200 for non-members. To register, call Capitol Hill Village’s offices at 202-543 1778. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings on Capitol Hill from 7-9 p.m., running from Sept. 10 to Nov. 12 (with no class on Oct. 22). Class size is limited.
