Police carAuthorities have apprehended a boy in connection with a carjacking near the H Street corridor this spring, police announced last night.

The young man, who is under the age of 18, was arrested Monday on a warrant for the May 18 carjacking on the 800 block of 11th Street NE.

In the crime, three people flagged down a motorist, telling her that her tire was going flat, police said. The trio then pulled her from her car, got in and drove off.

The boy police arrested is considered the “main suspect,” according to authorities.

Police car lightMen with guns robbed someone in Hill East and stole a car from another person near the H Street corridor yesterday morning, police said.

The armed carjacking occurred on the 600 block of Morton Place NE about 11:45 a.m. Thursday. The armed robbery happened on the 1600 block of C Street SE about 11 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities said they’re looking for five men in each of the crimes. But they haven’t released detailed descriptions of the suspects.

In the carjacking, police did note that one of the suspects wore black sweatpants and a black ski mask. The thieves took a 2016 Toyota Camry with temporary Virginia tags in that crime.

Police believe the crimes are connected, according to Councilmember Charles Allen of Ward 6.

1100 block of I Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)A witness scared away some would-be carjackers who tried to take a vehicle from a man at gunpoint yesterday afternoon, police said.

The attempted carjacking happened on the 1100 block of I Street NE about 12:15 p.m. Monday.

The car’s driver was eating in his vehicle when a young man knocked on his window with a handgun, according to authorities. The victim then got out of the car.

After patting the victim down, the gunman hopped into the car with another young man. But before they were able to drive away, the victim reached into the vehicle and grabbed the gunman, who flashed his weapon again.

The two young men and another young man, who was acting as a lookout, saw someone watching them soon after and ran away with the victim’s iPhone.

Police described the suspect with the gun as:

A black male wearing a black hoodie and black pants, 18-20 years old, slim build and armed with a silver handgun.

Authorities didn’t have detailed descriptions of the other suspects.

8th and G streets NE (Photo via Google Maps)A duo of thieves robbed two people at gunpoint near the H Street corridor over the weekend, police said.

The armed robbery happened near the intersection of 8th and G streets NE about 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

The victims were walking in the area when two men drove up to them in a black Jeep Cherokee, according to authorities. One of the men then flashed a gun.

The men drove off with a wallet and a cellphone soon after.

Authorities haven’t released detailed descriptions of the suspects.

Police arrested two people who tried to flee from a stolen white Toyota in the Hill East area Friday, too.

The vehicle was used “multiple times” in robberies, Captain Michael Pulliam of the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District told locals in an email.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the car is connected to any of the recent carjackings in the Capitol Hill area. The identities of the individuals arrested also weren’t immediately clear.

100 block of K Street SE (Photo via Google Maps)A would-be robber was unable to steal a car after attacking a man last night in the Capitol Hill area, which has seen a rash of carjackings in the past week, police said.

The attempted carjacking happened on the 100 block of K Street SE about 7 p.m. Monday. The incident in Navy Yard followed three carjackings that have occurred in Ward 6 since last Tuesday.

In yesterday’s attempted carjacking, the victim was standing near his car when someone struck his face with an unknown object, according to authorities. The attacker then got into the man’s vehicle and ordered him to hand over his keys.

Instead, the victim ran away with his keys. The would-be thief eventually left the scene without the car.

Police haven’t released any suspect information.

The incident came after two carjackers who said they were armed struck in northeast Capitol Hill Friday, two robbers with guns stole a car from a man in Hill East Wednesday and someone with a gun took a car from a man about a block northeast of Lincoln Park last Tuesday.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the carjackings were connected.

According to police, other crime that happened in the Capitol Hill area yesterday includes:

  • A robbery with a gun near New Jersey and Massachusetts avenues NW about 3:30 p.m. Police are looking for:

B/M 5’7″ 16 years of age, dark clothing.

  • A violent attempted robbery in which two individuals assaulted and tried to rob a man on the 1200 block of Delaware Avenue SW about 9:15 p.m. Police haven’t released any information about the suspects.

Police car lightAnother carjacking happened in the Capitol Hill area last week, police said.

The robbery, the third of its kind in Ward 6 last week, happened on the 300 block of 14th Street NE about 10:45 p.m. Friday.

Two men approached a victim in the area and told the individual they were armed, according to authorities. They then ordered the victim to give them keys to a nearby car.

The men then took the victim’s keys before driving away with the vehicle.

The carjacking came two days after two robbers with guns stole a car from a man in Hill East and three days after someone with a gun took a car from a man about a block northeast of Lincoln Park.

The armed carjacking occurred on the 1800 block of A Street SE about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. The area is just west of the Stadium-Armory Metro station.

The victim was getting into his Volkswagen Passat when two men with handguns approached him, according to authorities. The men then ordered the victim away from the car.

Two other men joined the armed men, and all of them drove off in the vehicle soon after.

Police haven’t released detailed descriptions of the suspects.

The carjacking came a day after someone with a gun took a car from a man about a block northeast of Lincoln Park.

The armed carjacking happened on the 1300 block of Constitution Avenue NE about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The gun-toting suspect approached the victim, ordered him to hand over the keys to his Mercedes-Benz sedan and drove away with the vehicle, according to authorities.

Police found the car in Southeast D.C. without anyone in it a few hours later.

Authorities haven’t released a description of the suspect.

Unit block of M Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)A man with a gun stole a car from someone in NoMa early this morning, police said.

The armed carjacking happened on the unit block of M Street NE about 1 a.m. The area is about a block west of the NoMa-Gallaudet University Metro station.

The car’s driver and a passenger were in the vehicle when a man approached, according to authorities. The man then flashed a handgun outside the driver’s window.

The driver and the passenger left the car soon after, and the armed man drove away with it.

Police described the suspect as a:

Black Male, 30-40 years old, Slight beard, medium build, light skin wearing blue jeans, dark jacket and fitted hat.

Police carPolice arrested two teens after they stole a car near Eastern Market last night.

A woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a car near the intersection of 7th and D streets SE when a man opened another door of the car. The woman left the car immediately and two other men took her purse from the car.

One of the men then stole the car while the other two ran away with her purse toward the Eastern Market Metro station.

Plainclothes police officers who were in the area came into contact with the victim shortly after the carjacking and canvassed the area. Officers quickly located the car on the 800 block of E Street SE and arrested the thief.

Later, Metro Transit Police Officers saw one of the men attempting to throw the purse away inside the Metro station and arrested him as well.

Police did not release the names of the suspects who were arrested because they are minors.

Earlier yesterday, a student at the Capitol Hill campus of Center City Public Charter School threatened another student with a knife. There were no injuries reported and the suspect later turned the knife in to the principal.

The robbery happened on the 300 block of 9th Street NE, according to an email from Metropolitan Police Department First District Lieutenant Michelle Ridlehoover.

The stolen car is a black Lexus with D.C. license plates “EZ9527.” The armed thief was described as a black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks wearing a black and red Helly Hensen jacket.

Police carA man drove himself to the hospital with a gunshot wound in his arm after a shooting in the Sursum Corda area of NoMa.

Police responded to reports of gunshots in the area about 7:15 a.m. and discovered shell casings but the victim had left. The victim later drove himself to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

On Friday night, a woman was hospitalized after she was attacked by two men who then stole her car.

The carjacking happened on the 300 block of L Street SE about 9:30 p.m., according to police. In a post on a neighborhood listserv, the victim said she was taken to George Washington hospital about 10 p.m., where she received oral surgery due to injuries she sustained when one of the suspects punched her.

The suspects were described as black men in dark gray hoodies and the car they stole is a silver 2004 Honda Civic with D.C. license plates.

There was also a robbery on the 800 block of F Street NE on Friday night. Ten juveniles pushed a woman to the ground and robbed her about 10:10 p.m. Police detained several suspects in the case and most of the property stolen from the woman was returned, according to police.

On Saturday night, a man was knocked unconscious during a fight on the H Street corridor. The fight occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning on the 1300 block of H Street NE. The suspect was arrested on the scene.

MPD Police CarsThree cars were damaged by gunfire on Sunday afternoon in Southwest near Nationals Park.

Police responded to calls of gunshots on the 100 block of O Street SW Sunday afternoon.m On the scene, police discovered shell casings and the three vehicles that were hit. No people were injured in the shooting and police do not have a suspect description.

Empower DC, a community organizing group focused on low-income District residents postponed an environmental justice tour planned for Buzzard Point due to safety concerns after the shooting.

On Saturday night, four men stole a woman’s car at gunpoint as she was parking near the Stadium-Armory Metro station about midnight.

The woman reported that four black men in dark clothing approached her car, flashed a handgun and ordered her out, according to an email from Metropolitan Police First District Captain Antonio Charland. The suspects fled the scene in her car, a red Chevrolet Cruze with Virginia registration.
